Dua Lipa was undoubtedly the best dressed at the Golden Globes 2024 this year. The first time nominee and presenter was a dream on the red carpet in the custom made velvet Schiaparelli gown but had a tough time otherwise. The singer has now shared a video to show how difficult it was for her to sit in the fitted bustier dress and joked that she could have felt little more comfortable if there was a recliner in sight. 

Sharing the video and bunch of pictures in the dress, Dua Lipa wrote on Instagram, “Thank you @goldenglobes for such a beautiful night last night - the only thing missing was a reclining chair.”

Commenting on her post, a fan wrote, “When you wear your standing dress to a sit down event.” Another said, “Nooooooooo ohhhh Dua we love you even if you can’t sit properly! What dedication in the name of fashion.” A fan even dedicated her an award as a comment read: “and your award for most well managed dress”. A fan also joked, “No one tells DuDu to sit.” Another said in sarcasm, “It’s not an everyday thing though, sometimes beauty needs sacrifice.” A fan also pointed out, "The face once you sat," along with a laughing emoji and an ok sign.

Dua Lipa was a presenter at the Golden Globes for the first time and had also earned her first nomination for her song in the film Barbie. Her song Dance the Night was nominated in the Best Original Song category at the Golden Globe Awards. Dua Lipa had played the Mermaid Barbie in Barbie and chose to wear a mermaid gown for the Golden Globes.

Dua Lipa had recently flown to India to ring in the New Year. Sharing a note after her vacation in Rajasthan, she had written on Instagram, "I feel so beyond lucky to end my year here in India. Thank you to all the wonderful people here who have shown us so much love, kindness, hospitality and generosity. This experience has been deeply meaningful. I feel lucky to be in and within the magic with my family where we have had the time to explore, regroup, recharge and restart. Ready for the year ahead. What a joy!!!"

India's top-performing athletes on Tuesday were conferred with the national sports awards by the President, Droupadi Murmu, in a grand ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The ceremony is usually held on August 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, but the event was postponed because of the Asian Games in China, which took place between September 23 and October 8, 2023.

The Arjuna Award list comprised 26 athletes and para-athletes. 19-year-old Esha Singh, who on Monday booked her ticket for the Paris Olympics, was the only recipient to have missed the ceremony as she was competing in the Asian Olympic Qualifiers in Jakarta.

Among the 25 recipients present at the Durbar Hall was Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami, who was the star performer for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Shami had come off the bench after failing to find a place in the XI for the opening four games in the tournament and finished as the leading wicket-taker with 24 scalps, which included three five-wicket hauls, the most by any bowler in a single 50-over ICC event.

Shami, currently recovering from an ankle injury incurred during the World Cup, was present to receive the prestigious award and the crowd duly acknowledged his achievements with an ovation. Shami became the 58th Indian cricketer, male or female, to be conferred with the Arjuna Award, a list that includes some of the legendary names in Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, and Virat Kohli.

Shabana azmi celebrates ‘betu’ farhan akhtar's 50th birthday; honey irani, javed akhtar, shibani, zoya and others join

As Farhan Akhtar turned a year older, Shabana Azmi penned a sweet note for him on Instagram. It seems like the Akhtar family celebrated the occasion with a special midnight cake cutting session, which had their loved ones in attendance. From Javed Akhtar to Farhan's mother Honey Irani and sister Zoya Akhtar, it was a full house with Shibani Dandekar's family members as well.

Shibani's sister, actor and VJ Anusha Dandekar, was also a part of the celebration with others. Three big birthday cakes, including one in the shape of the number 50, were seen placed on the table. The photo was seemingly clicked at Farhan's house in Mumbai.

Shabana shares a close bond with Farhan, Zoya and Shibani. They are often seen spending time together, and occasionally Honey joins them as well.

Javed Akhtar was married to the former child artiste and writer Honey Irani. Javed and Honey are parents to directors Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar. In 1978, they parted ways, and Javed married Shabana Azmi in 1984.

Farhan's career

Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai in 2001. He made his Bollywood debut as an actor with the musical drama Rock On (2008). He also featured in several other hit films, such as Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, among others.

He is currently gearing up for his directorial comeback with Jee Le Zaraa. The film was announced in 2021, starring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. He jointly produced the recent Netflix film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.

Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare's wedding festivities continue as the mehendi ceremony took place on Monday. While pictures of the bride and groom from the function surfaced earlier in the day, a new video of Nupur dancing his heart out has appeared now.

In a video shared by a paparazzi account, Nupur is seen dancing with actors Mithila Palkar and Zayn Marie, who is Ira's cousin, on Badshah's popular track Jugnoo. They even perform the signature step. While Nupur wore a pink shirt, black waistcoat and a pink stole around his neck, Mithila was seen in a pink top, skirt and shrug.

Ira Khan, looking radiant in an ivory lehenga, also shook a leg but rather cautiously, so as to avoid contact with her arm-length mehendi. Earlier in the day, Nupur posed with Ira as she got her mehendi applied.

Kiran dedicates song to newlyweds

Kiran Rao, filmmaker and Aamir's second wife, is also as involved in the wedding festivities as Ira's father or mother Reena Dutta. In another video shared by the paparazzo account, Kiran can be seen dedicating an English song to the newlyweds, who then slow-dance to the track on the floor. Aamir and Kiran's son Azad Rao Khan was also seen adjusting the mic besides his mother on stage. From the looks of it, this seemed to be from Sunday night.

The three-day celebration at Taj Aravali Resort & Spa, Udaipur will conclude on January 10 with a vow exchange.

About Ira and Nupur

Reportedly, Nupur and Ira met during the COVID-19 lockdown when Nupur, a fitness coach, was training Aamir and Ira was living with her father. The duo had an engagement party in November last year.

Kangana Ranaut has criticised Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal, though she didn't name the film. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday, Kangana said that the audience encourages 'women beating films where they are treated like sex objects and asked to lick shoes'. She also said that was 'deeply discouraging' for her who has been doing woman empowerment films.

Recently, Javed Akhtar too had said that the success of a film where 'a man asks a woman to lick his shoe' is 'very dangerous'. Javed had said, “If there’s a film in which a man asks a woman to lick his shoe or if a man says it’s okay to slap a woman, and if the film is a super duper hit, then that’s very dangerous.”

The Animal team slammed him saying that all his ‘art form is big false’, if a ‘writer of your calibre cannot understand the betrayal of a lover’. In Animal there is a scene where the film's lead character Rannvijay (Ranbir Kapoor), asked Zoya (Triptii Dimri) to lick his shoes to prove her love for him.

'love jihad, ram - a meat eater' - after mumbai police files fir against nayanthara's annapoorani, netizens call it 'worst propaganda film ever'

After former Shiv Sena leader Ramesh Solanki filed a complaint at a police station in Mumbai, claiming that the Tamil film Annapoorani, starring Nayanthara, is encouraging “love jihad”, the police have filed an FIR against the makers of the film as well as Netflix.

The complaint has been filed at the LT Marg Police Station in Mumbai. In a tweet posted on January 6, the Shiv Sena activist called Annapoorani an “anti-Hindu film” in which a “daughter of Hindu Poojari, offers Namaz to cook Biryani”. He has mentioned a scene in this film in which actor Jai’s character Farhaan “persuades the actress to eat meat, saying that Bhagwan Shri Ram was also a meat eater”.

The film centres on Annapoorani, a young woman who aspires to become a chef. However, because she is the daughter of a Hindu temple pujari, cooking non-vegetarian food is not an easy task. But she overcomes these obstacles and begins tasting and cooking meat as part of her profession.

One particularly controversial scene in the film depicts Annapoorani performing the Islamic prayer Namaz while covering her head with a scarf before preparing biryani. This is because the mother of one of her friends told her that her biryani tasted very good because she said the Namaz before cooking it. This has also been said to have offending the religious sentiments of many.

Responses to this incident

Meanwhile, netizens openly bashed the film on Twitter, calling it the ‘Worst Dravidoid Propaganda Film Ever Made’ and ‘unmitigated nonsense’. While some questioned if every person has to eat meat and embrace Islam to pursue a career as a chef, others blamed the actress for opting to be a part of this film. Another user pointed out Nayanthara’s poor choice of films that did not work well at the box office recently.

“The gaze of the movie is very disturbing and showing one side of the Hindu family and glorifying Islam and not showing short comings,” one wrote in a Twitter post.

Another user has urged Netflix to stop streaming such films and boycott filmmakers who make them.

Ramesh Solanki has also slammed the makers for releasing this movie, especially at “a time when the whole world is rejoicing in anticipation of the Pran Pratishtha of Bhagwan Shri Ram Mandir”.

About the temple

Over one lakh devotees are expected in Ayodhya on January 22 for the Ram Mandir's 'pran pratishtha,' which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Ram temple complex, built in the traditional Nagara style, will be 380 feet in length (east-west direction), 250 feet in width, and 161 feet in height, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra general secretary Champat Rai had said earlier as reported by news agency PTI. Each floor of the temple will be 20 feet high and have a total of 392 pillars and 44 gates.

About Ranbir and Alia

After celebrating their New Year's Eve overseas, Ranbir and Alia returned to Mumbai with their one-year-old daughter Raha Kapoor on Friday. On Saturday, they attended the success bash of Animal with Ranbir's mother and actor Neetu Kapoor and Alia's father and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.

Ranbir was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's family crime drama Animal, where he played Rannvijay Singh, a wealthy heir hellbent on avenging an assassination attempt on his father Balbir Singh (played by Ani; Kapoor). The film also starred Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri, Shakti Kapoor, Suresh Oberoi, and Prem Chopra. The film crossed the coveted ₹300 crore mark at the domestic box office.

Ranbir will be seen in Animal's sequel Animal Park, whereas Alia will be seen in Jigra and Jee Le Zaraa.
