Vijay Deverakonda bounced back after the massive disaster of his pan-Indian project Liger with the decent box office performance of his recent Telugu outing Kushi. The popular Telugu actor is now set to make a comeback to the big screen with Family Star, the upcoming entertainer helmed by Parasuram Petla. The highly anticipated project also marks Vijay Deverakonda’s first collaboration with Hi Nanna actress Mrunal Thakur.

Earlier, OTTplay exclusively reported that Family Star is gearing up for an April 2024 release. The cast and crew members of the movie have now confirmed the reports with an official announcement on social media.

Family Star to release on April 5, 2024

Recently, Vijay Deverakonda took to his official social media handles, dropped a new still from his ambitious project, and announced the release date of the film. Family Star will hit the big screens on April 5, 2024, ahead of the Ugadi celebrations of the year. In the newly released still from the Parasuram Petla directorial, leading man Vijay looks different in his common man avatar.

The actor, who is best known for his angry young man roles, is seen in a striped T-shirt and a checkered lungi. He is seen holding his Aadhar card in his mouth and a sack on his shoulder as he gears up to run. From the new picture, it is safe to assume that the celebrated actor is finally set to bid goodbye to the overused ‘toxic lover with anger issues’ trope with Family Star, as the title of the film suggests.

The Parasuram Petla directorial, which is touted to be a romantic comedy, reportedly revolves around a breezy love story. If the rumours are to be believed, Vijay Deverakonda’s rumoured girlfriend, Rashmika Mandanna, is making a special appearance in the film. Divyansha Kaushik and Ajay Ghosh appear in supporting roles. Gopi Sundar composes the songs and background score for the movie. Family Star is produced by Dil Raju under the prestigious banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations.

Model, actor and reality TV star Poonam Pandey is alive. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, she posted videos apologising to her fans and followers for 'shocking' them. On Friday, Poonam's manager in an Instagram post had said that she died of cervical cancer.

In a video, Poonam said, "I am alive. I didn't die of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I can't say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer." She went on to talk about the disease. Sharing the video, Poonam wrote, "I feel compelled to share something significant with you all - I am here, alive. Cervical Cancer didn’t claim me, but tragically, it has claimed the lives of thousands of women who stemmed from a lack of knowledge on how to tackle this disease."

In another clip, she said, "Hi everyone. It's Poonam. I'm sorry I've cause this tear and I'm sorry to those whom I've hurt. My intention? To shock everyone into the conversation that we are not talking enough about, which is cervical cancer. Yes, I faked my demise, extreme I know. But suddenly, we all are talking about cervical cancer, aren't we? It's a disease that silently takes your life. And this disease needed the spotlight urgently. Poonam Pandey's death was confirmed by her manager on Friday leading to celebs and social media users expressing shock. Poonam died at the age of 32, due to cervical cancer, the late actor-model's team announced via a post shared on her official Instagram page. On Friday, singer Chinmayi Sripaada, joined Kangana Ranaut, Pooja Bhatt and other celebrities' in mourning Poonam's death. Poonam died on Thursday night, per her manager.

Taking to X, Chinmayi said even in death, Poonam helped people by highlighting the critical need for increased awareness and proactive measures against preventable diseases like cervical cancer. She tweeted, "Poonam Pandey was highly criticised, to state it politely, for the way she lived. She showed us to live unabashedly, believe in herself, she exposed the hypocrisy in our fake~puritan drama, and in her passing, the star child she is, has created such an awareness for HPV cancer, making this place better than how she found it."

She added, “Thank you for traveling through earth, Poonam. Safe travels and I wish you a kinder Universe, elsewhere. I wish you dont come across humans if you so wish to reincarnate. You deserve better.”

Celebs react to Poonam Pandey's death

Poonam's Lock Upp co-contestant and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui said he was not able to 'process the news' of Poonam's death. Actor Kangana Ranaut, called it 'sad' news, and took to Instagram Stories on Friday, writing, "This is so sad. Losing a young woman to cancer is a catastrophe. Om Shanti."

Munawar Faruqui tweeted, "Shocking! Can’t process the news. Poonam was great human being. Sad. RIP (rest in peace)." Actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt also took to X, writing, "So tragic to hear about Poonam Pandey. I had never met her, but when life claims someone so young it is always devastating. My prayers and deepest condolences to her family, friends and everyone whose life she impacted."

Thereafter, speaking to Hauterrfly.com, Poonam’s manager Nikita Sharma said, “Poonam Pandey’s commitment to her work and her unwavering spirit amidst her health struggles was truly remarkable.
