Hours after getting slapped by a CISF constable at the Chandigarh airport last week, actor-turned-MP Kangana Ranaut claimed that no one in her film fraternity came out in her support. However, if one looks closely, voices from Bollywood, including those who've had long feuds with her, have shown solidarity. These include veteran actor Shabana Azmi, whose feud with Kangana dates back to a few years ago. Shabana tweeted that while she has no love lost for Kangana, the celebration of the violence inflicted on her doesn't sit well with her.
In 2017, when the Rajput Karni Sena threatened to chop off Deepika Padukone's nose for her portrayal of Rani Padmini in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 period drama Padmaavat, a host of leading female actors signed a letter demanding action from then-I&B Minister Smriti Irani. However, Kangana refused to be a party because she claimed the campaign led by Shabana Azmi was politically motivated.
A couple of years before that, when Kangana opened up on harassment by former co-star and alleged ex-boyfriend Hrithik Roshan, she claimed his family friends Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi warned Kangana to keep quiet or risk getting her career destroyed. Kangana said that Shabana conveniently didn't take a stand for her when her character was assassinated, but she lent her support to Deepika because it suited her political leanings.
Shabana's husband Javed Akhtar had filed a complaint in which he had claimed that Kangana defamed and damaged his “immaculate reputation” by dragging his name into actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in her interview with a news channel in July 2020.
In 2021, Kangana hit back by filing a counter-complaint against Javed before a magistrate’s court, alleging criminal intimidation and insult to modesty. The actor had alleged that during her meeting with the lyricist at his residence in 2016, he had criminally intimidated her demanding that she apologise to a co-star.
When Stree was released in 2018, it instantly became a hit for its outstanding performances, intriguing plot, on-point comedy, and scary sequences. The film was headlined by Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerji, and Vijay Raaz, among others. As we all know producer Dinesh Vijan is all set with the third installment of his horror-comedy series Munjya starring Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma, after the success of Stree and Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon starrer Bhediya. Since its theatrical release, Munjya has been doing well at the ticket window and has already crossed Rs. 20 crore within three days of its release. Now, the new update reveals that Maddock Films, the producers of the horror comedies are all set to attach the much-anticipated teaser of Stree 2 in theatres attaching to the screenings of Munjya.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news by taking to his social media and revealing that the teaser of Stree 2 won't be released on social media or any other platform but will only screen in cinemas showing Munjya. The teaser will be unveiled on Friday, June 14.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the duration of the teaser will be 1 minute 23 seconds. A source also told the news portal, “The teaser will be released in June itself, that too this week, though the release of the film is almost 2 ½ months away. This promo of Stree 2 will give an idea as to what one can expect from the film this time.”
Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 will bring back the OG stars of the film - Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor.
Kalki 2898 AD trailer: The much-awaited trailer of Nag Ashwin's sci-fi blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD is here. As expected, it's packed with action and worldbuilding.
The trailer begins by transporting us to the world of Kashi, described as the first and last city to ever exist. Saswata Chatterjee's evil ruler is wreaking havoc in the city, prompting philosophers to yearn for a godsend power to rescue them. Amitabh Bachchan's Ashwatthama predicts that a new force of power is imminent, and is present in the womb of Padma (Deepika Padukone).
When Saswata's evil forces chase Padma and her unborn child, not only Ashwatthama, but the goofy protagonist Bhairava (Prabhas) come to her rescue. Both Amitabh and Prabhas are seen performing some high-octane stunts. We also see a glimpse of Disha Patani fighting Prabhas, and Kamal Haasan in an unrecognisable bald avatar announcing the advent of a new era, towards the end of the trailer.
Last month, makers shared the teaser of Amitabh Bachchan's look from the sci-fi dystopian film during the thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
The 21-second teaser started with Big B marking presence in warm earthy tones. He was seated in a cave, engaged in prayer to a Shiva linga. He was covered with bandages.
In the brief clip, one can also see a young kid asking Big B, “Kya tum bhagwan ho, kya tum marr nahi sakte? Tum Bhagwan ho? Kaun ho Tum?” (Are you God? Are you immortal? Who are you?), to which his character replied, "Dwapar yug se Dash avatar ki pratiksha kar raha hoon main, Dronacharya ka putra Ashwatthama." (Since the Dwapar Yug, I have waited for the Dasavatar.) A younger AI-created version of Amitabh was also spotted fleetingly in the promo.
Last month, the makers introduced Bujji, a life-size futuristic car, which is driven by Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD. The actor arrived at the event, which was attended by over 15,000 fans, in the customised car. An animated prequel series, B&B: Buji & Bhairava, dropped on Prime Video India subsequently, giving fans a much-awaited glimpse into the world of Kalki 2898 AD.
Kalki 2898 AD is slated to release in cinemas on June 27.
India defeated Pakistan by six runs in New York during Sunday's T20 World Cup match. A photo of Anushka Sharma's reaction after Virat Kohli's early dismissal is grabbing attention on social media. Sharing it on X (formerly Twitter), a fan page said, "Anushka Sharma upset after Virat Kohli early dismissal. IND vs PAK."

Yuzvendra Chahal's wife and dancer, Dhanashree, shared a happy picture of all the wives posing together and their smiles proved they were indeed proud of their husbands, who played well and won. Anushka posed with everyone in the stands and had a big smile on her face.

On the work front, Priyanka will be seen next in Heads of State, an action-comedy, which stars Idris Elba, John Cena, and Jack Quaid in pivotal roles. She also announced her new film in collaboration with the production team of Barry Avrich's new feature documentary Born Hungry as a producer.
