Thalapathy Vijay, the popular star is set to take a long break from cinema to focus on his political career. However, before bidding goodbye to films, the celebrated actor is planning to finish his 69th film. As reported earlier, Vijay is reportedly set to team up with acclaimed filmmaker H Vinoth for the project which has been tentatively titled Thalapathy 69. If the recent updates are to be believed, the Leo actor is set to reunite with popular actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, for the much-awaited project.

If the recent updates are to be believed, the highly anticipated H Vinoth directorial will feature popular actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, as the female lead. Some unconfirmed reports suggest that the actress is highly impressed with the untitled film’s storyline and her character, and immediately said Yes. In that case, Thalapathy 69 will mark the fourth collaboration of Vijay and Samantha, after the blockbuster films Kaththi, Theri, and Mersal. However, we will have to wait a little longer, for an official confirmation on the same.

If things fall in place, Thalapathy 69 will also mark Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s grand comeback to Tamil cinema, after a gap of over two years. The actress was last seen in Tamil in the Vignesh Shivan directorial Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. She played the role of Khadija in the movie, which featured Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi as the other two protagonists.

Thalapathy 69 – Here's what we know

The highly anticipated project, which marks the first collaboration of Thalapathy Vijay and H Vinoth, is touted to be an out-and-out political thriller. The leading man is expected to play an intense character in the film, which is scripted by director Vinoth, himself. Anirudh Ravichander has reportedly joined the team to compose the songs and original score for the film. Thalapathy 69 will mark the Tamil debut of the popular Kannada production banner, KVN Studios. The untitled project is expected to start rolling by the last week of October or the first week of November, 2024.

The popular films of Thalapathy Vijay and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, including Kaththi, Theri, and Mersal, are available for streaming on OTT. Kaththi, the AR Murugadoss directorial, is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The Hindi dubbed version of the blockbuster movie is streaming on Zee5. Theri, the Atlee directorial is currently streaming on Sun NXT. Mersal, which is also helmed by the hitmaker, is now streaming on Zee5. All these films can be watched on OTTplay Premium, as well.

Vishal warns him again and says, “Ek baar firse mere content pe bolke dikhana, tujhe batata hu (Dare to speak about my content once more and then I'll teach you a lesson).” As both get irritated, Armaan calls him ‘machchar’ multiple times. The video of their fight has gone viral on Twitter and the same was also confirmed by the Bigg Boss fan handle, The Khabri.

Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Rakhi Sawant criticized the actors, while Urfi Javed defended the trio and praised them as 'nicest' people.

Sobhita Dhulipala and Kalki 2898 AD have a connection that goes way deeper than just those quick cameos. In the Telugu version of the film, directed by Nag Ashwin, Sobhita lent her voice to Deepika Padukone's character, Sumathi. Word on the street is that Sobhita dubbed Deepika's lines, which was confirmed when the director gave Sobhita a big shout-out in the opening credits.

About the role

The film marks Deepika foray into Telugu film industry. She is seen in the role of Sum-80, aka Sumathi, who bears a miracle child. Taking a note from the pages of Mahabharat, Sumathi is said to carry the 10th avatar of Vishnu — Kalki — who will bring an end to the Kali Yug and start a new era. In the film, Kamal Haasan’s Supreme Yaskin is out to kill the child, while Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama is tasked to protect the unborn child.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the post-apocalyptic film is inspired by Hindu scriptures and set in the year 2898 AD. The film is a blend of Hindu epic Mahabharata and science fiction. The big-budget film is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and was released on Thursday in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English.

Kalki 2898 AD, mounted on a whopping budget of ₹600 crore, also features Prabhas, Disha Patani, Saswata Chatterjee and Shobhana. Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur have cameos in the film. As per the film's team, the multilingual 3D spectacle has entered the ₹500 crore club within four days of its global release.
