Jailer: Rajinikanth returns to Chennai from Maldives ahead of the film's audio launch, pics go viral

 The makers of Jailer unveiled its third single, Jujubee, yesterday. Music lovers are pointing out that the song has little chance to go viral unlike the first two singles Kaavaala and Hukum. All eyes are now on the project's trailer which is expected to be out soon. The movie helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar is hitting the screens on August 10.

The much-awaited audio launch of the action drama is happening tomorrow. Rajinikanth was in Maldives for the last few days, and a pic of him having a gala time did the rounds on social media a few days ago.

He has now returned to Chennai; the social media page of a leading airline posted pics of the Superstar after he boarded their flight to return back to Chennai. Their tweet read, "Superstar onboard! We are extremely thrilled to welcome aboard the legendary @rajinikanth on his trip from #Maldives to #Chennai. Looking forward to be part of your future journeys (sic)."

A video of the star taking his seat and shaking his hands with a co-passenger even as others seen clicking his pics are going viral on social media. 

The cast and crew of Jailer are expected to attend the audio launch which is happening at Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Fans are eager to know if there are more songs in the film. The movie is likely to be released in Telugu as well, like most of the Superstar's projects.

The Tollywood version of Kaavaala, titled Kaavaali, was unveiled yesterday. The Telugu versions of the other two songs will be released in the coming days. If everything goes well, Rajinikanth might attend a pre-release event in Hyderabad, too.

Court on Kangana Ranaut's complaint: Sufficient grounds to proceed against Javed Akhtar for criminal intimidation

 Lyricist Javed Akhtar has been asked to appear before a Mumbai court regarding a counter complaint filed against him by Kangana Ranaut for alleged "extortion and criminal intimidation". Now a PTI report has revealed that the court, while summoning him to appear on August 5, had said that there was indeed sufficient ground to proceed against him for the offence of criminal intimidation and gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman.

In 2020, Javed had filed a complaint against Kangana when in an interview she accused him of threatening her after calling her to his home amid her ugly fight with Hrithik Roshan over their alleged affair. Kangana had then filed a counter complaint against Javed Akhtar.

What the court said

Metropolitan magistrate (Andheri court) R M Shaikh on July 24 issued the summons against Javed Akhtar, asking him to appear before the court on August 5. While issuing summons, the court said no case of extortion was made out against the lyricist. Asking a person to give a written apology will not come under the definition of "valuable security" as defined under section 30 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) because no legal right is created, extended, transferred, restricted, extinguished or released, it said.

"As far as other offences levelled against the accused are concerned, on the basis of averments in the complaint, verification of the complainant and statement of her (Kangana's) sister Rangoli Chandel," the court said. "I have come to the conclusion that there are sufficient grounds to proceed against the accused for offence under IPC section 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman)," the court added.

More about the case

In his complaint in 2020, Javed had claimed that Kangana dragged his name during an interview while referring to a 'coterie' existing in Bollywood, following the alleged suicide by actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Kangana went on to file a counter-complaint in the same court against Javed for alleged "extortion and criminal intimidation". She said in her complaint that following her public dispute with her Krrish 3 co-star, the lyricist had called her and her sister Rangoli to his house with "malafide intentions and ulterior motives and then criminally intimidated and threatened" her.

Internet reacts as Narayana Murthy says Kareena Kapoor ignored fans on flight: 'That's why nobody will remember her...'

 An old video from earlier this year, which features Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy has gone viral. It recently resurfaced and shows him criticising actor Kareena Kapoor for ignoring her fans during a flight. During an interaction at IIT Kanpur earlier this year, Narayana recalled the incident and said he did not appreciate Kareena's behaviour. Now, many social media users have chimed in, and reacted to Narayana's remark about Kareena. 

What Narayana Murthy said about Kareena

In the old video that is doing the rounds online, Narayana Murthy said, "The other day I was coming from London, and next to me was Kareena Kapoor, sitting in her seat. So many people came to her and said hello. She didn't even bother to react. I was a little bit surprised. Whoever came to me, I stood up, and we discussed for a minute or half a minute – that's all they were expecting."

Chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, Sudha Murthy, rose to Kareena’s defence as her husband criticised her. She said, "She has a million admirers. She must have been tired... Murthy, a founder, a software person, will have maybe 10,000 (fans), but a film actor will get a million."

Narayana Murthy then said, “That is not the issue. The issue is that when somebody shows affection, you can also show it back, in however cryptic manner you can. I think that is very important. These are all ways to reduce your ego, that's all.”

Many praised Narayana. One Instagram user said, "That's why nobody will even remember who Kareena is just after her glamour is gone. On the other hand, people are and people will remember you even after hundred years from now." A person also said, "Just proves that education and upbringing and family background play a major role."

One more said, "First time I agree with Narayan Murthy and disagree with Sudha Murthy." Another person said, "He said it and Sudha Murthy tried to be diplomatic here." A person also recalled her own experience of meeting Kareena, writing, "She used to be my favourite actress until 10 years ago. We were on the same flight. All I said was 'hello' all excitedly, and she called the crew and made it look like I was harassing her. I had not even asked for a picture. I have never felt so humiliated. I have never seen anyone turn ugly that fast in my head."

Kareena Kapoor is the daughter of actors Randhir Kapoor and Babita, and sister of Karisma Kapoor. She is one of the most famous actors in Bollywood, and has won multiple awards for her roles, ever since she made her acting debut with Refugee in 2000.

 A recent interview with Jawan stunt director Yannick Ben has ignited a wave of excitement among fans of Thalapathy Vijay and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Speculations have been rife for months about the possibility of Vijay making a cameo appearance in SRK's upcoming movie Jawan, directed by Atlee, a self-proclaimed die-hard fan of Thalapathy Vijay.

And soon Yannick's comments went viral, much to the joy of the fans of Vijay and SRK. However, there is also a lot of ambiguity in his comments. There is a strong possibility that Yannick was referring to Vijay Sethupathi and not Thalapathy Vijay. As everyone knows that Vijay Sethupathi is playing the main antagonist in the movie and Yannick wanted to hint there was a big action sequence involving SRK and Vijay (Sethupathi). 

When Yannick realizes the confusion, he tries to correct clarify that he was not talking about Thalapathy Vijay but Vijay Sethupathi. However, the interviewer was convinced that Yannick had unintentionally revealed Thalapathy Vijay's surprise cameo and was now trying to manage the situation.

Yannick revealed that the filmmakers have roped in five stunt choreographers, who are handling different segments of action in the movie. He was hired to compose stunt two sequences, a prison fight and action that unfolds at a railway station. 

Jawan is director Atlee's debut in Hindi. However, it will also be released in Tamil and Telugu. Besides Shah Rukh Khan and Sethupathi, the movie also stars Nayanthara and Sanya Malhotra among others. 

Jawan is due in cinemas on September 7.

MS Dhoni is open to acting in films, says wife Sakshi Dhoni; reveals the genre he'd prefer

Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is likely to venture into acting, his wife Sakshi Dhoni has revealed. Sakshi was speaking at a press conference in Chennai, when she talked about her husband's acting debut. 

Dhoni Entertainment debut

The couple recently announced the new production house Dhoni Entertainment. The Tamil film Let's Get Married, directed by Ramesh Thamilmani, is the first film that Dhoni Entertainment has produced. The film will also be released in Telugu. It stars Nadiya, Yogi Babu, and Mirchi Vijay.

MS Dhoni may start acting

Sakshi accompanied producer Shakthi, RJ Vijay, Nadhiya, Ramesh Thamilmani, Ivana, and Harish Kalyan for a press conference to promote her first production in Chennai. Asked if MS Dhoni may take up the role of a lead character in a film, Sakshi said, “If there’s something good, he may just (do it). He is not camera-shy. He has been acting in advertisements since 2006, and he is not afraid of facing the camera. So, might do it if there’s something good.”

Dhoni may take up an action film

Sakshi also added that the cricketer will be best-suited for action films, and said “Action. He is always in action. What would you choose for him? If we plan to make a movie with MS Dhoni as a hero, then it will only be an action-packed entertainer. If a character with a good story and good message comes, then MS Dhoni will consider acting in a movie.” Ramesh added, “He is a real-life superhero, and I would like to see him in a superhero film.”

During the event, Ramesh also talked about the involvement of his producers. “Sakshi was particular about having a heroine who can speak Tamil and not some actor from the North. She wanted things to be authentic. Also, both Dhoni and she were very supportive. Dhoni told me that ‘More than anything else, we should like what we have done. Everything else comes later. In that way, I am proud of what you guys have made with LGM.’ Dhoni has so far watched the film thrice,” he said.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has had an emotional connection with Tamil Nadu, where he is fondly known as Thala (leader). He got the name ever since his association with the IPL team Chennai Super Kings.
