Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Season 2 Review: Tahir Raj Bhasin Shines in a Gripping and Entertaining Sequel
Sidharth Sengupta's Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein returns for its second season, and I'm thrilled to say it has successfully avoided the dreaded sophomore slump. Featuring a talented cast including Tahir Raj Bhasin, Shweta Tripathi, Anchal Singh, and Saurabh Shukla, the series maintains the thrilling and pulpy vibe of its first season. While some of the initial excitement may fade, the show’s political and philosophical themes remain strong.
Season 2 picks up right where we left off: Purva (Anchal) has been kidnapped by Jalaan (Arunoday Singh), who demands ₹100 crore from her husband Vikrant (Tahir) for her release. The twist? Vikrant had initially hired Jalaan to kill Purva, but now he finds himself double-crossed and in a desperate situation.
At its core, Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein thrives on subverting expectations. While it might seem like a typical small-town crime thriller on the surface, it cleverly plays with genre conventions. From reimagining iconic dance numbers to flipping traditional gender roles, the show continues to challenge norms. Although Season 2 doesn’t significantly expand on its foundation, it keeps the same spirit alive, making viewers root for Vikrant while hoping Purva remains lost.
