
George Wendt’s cause of death revealed, death certificate discloses heartbreaking details
Weeks after George Wendt, the celebrity of 'Cheers,' passed away unexpectedly, the reason of his death has been discovered. According to a death certificate acquired by TMZ, Wendt, who gained notoriety for his portrayal of the barfly Norm Peterson throughout the NBC show's 11 seasons, passed away from cardiac arrest.
According to reports, the death certificate also listed congestive heart failure, hypertension, and coronary artery disease as underlying factors. Hyperlipidemia and end-stage renal illness (kidney failure) were among the additional factors mentioned.
At age 76, Wendt passed away "peacefully in his sleep" on Tuesday, May 17, according to the New York Post. "George was a doting family man, a well-loved friend and confidant to all of those lucky enough to have known him," the family rep said in a statement to the publication. "He will be missed forever. At this time, the family is asking for privacy."
